The South East faces major challenges in managing its water resources due to increases in population, demand and the effects of climate change. With the increasing pressure on resources and the cost of water set to rise in the future…
Are you doing enough to save water?
By implementing very simple water saving practices you can not only help to conserve this precious resource but you could also save up to 40% on your bill! The Sustainable River Catchments for the South East (SuRCaSE) project is working together with farmers, landowners, water users, developers and local authorities to help safeguard and enhance water resources in South East England. This partnership project is sponsored by the South East England Development Agency (SEEDA) and part-funded by the EU LIFE Environment Programme. It is implemented by the University of Liverpool’s Institute for Sustainable Water, Integrated Management & Ecosystem Research (SWIMMER) on behalf of project partners which include:
- South East England Development Agency (SEEDA), University of Liverpool, Environment Agency, Southern Water, Mid Kent Water, Natural England and,
- Westcountry Rivers Trust
They are currently working in 2 areas of Kent; the River Darent catchment which stretches from Sevenoaks to Dartford, and the River Stour catchment which includes Greater Ashford, Canterbury, Thanet and Sandwich. They can offer one-to-one, site specific water use audits by a dedicated water efficiency advisor. The visit will comprise an evaluation of current water use in your business and a consultation on current practices. Within two weeks of your visit, you will be sent a report containing a personalised water efficiency plan highlighting potential opportunities for you to save water.
