Calling Kent’s Best Businesses The search is on for Kent companies that have care for the environment at the heart of what they do, with the launch of the Environment Awards for Kent Business 2007.
|
Following the official launch of this year’s Awards by Kent Sustainable Business Partnership at East Malling Conference Centre, Pete Raine, Managing Director for Environment and Regeneration at Kent Count Council, said: “Environmental issues are at the top of everyone’s agenda at the moment, so there has never been a better time for the many local businesses that have made an extraordinary environmental effort to stand up and be counted. The Environment Awards for Kent Business need our best environmental achievers to stop being shy about what they do and to come forward for the recognition they so richly deserve.” |

Kent companies, regardless of their size and the business sector in which they operate, are being encouraged to enter the Awards to compete for the top title: ‘Kent Environment Business of the Year 2007’.
The Awards, sponsored by Business Link, Cyberkix, East Malling Conference Centre, the Environment Agency, Hillreed Homes, Kent County Council, Kent Messenger Group, Kent Sustainable Business Partnership and Pfizer, seek to recognise and reward Kent businesses for a wide variety of innovative environmental and community work.
Pete Raine continued: “Each year these Awards reveal local companies that are doing a great job of combining good business with superb action on the environment. Our aim is to bring to the attention of the Kent public and the county’s business community just how great a job they are doing.”
Dr Paula Carey, Commercial Director of Carbon8 Systems (Kent Environment Business of the Year 2006) and Matthew Wilcock, Environment Adviser at Costain Ltd (winners of the 2006 Responsible Construction and Site Management award) also spoke at the launch, discussing how the environmental actions taken by the businesses they represent had brought them success in last year’s Environment Awards for Kent Business and urging fellow Kent companies to follow their example.
